Garmin has acquired the training platforms for athletes and coaches TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic. The acquisition “strengthens Garmin’s fitness ecosystem with customizable coaching experiences for endurance, strength, and performance athletes at every stage of their sports journey”, Garmin stated. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The training programs cover disciplines such as triathlon, cycling, running, swimming, rowing, winter sports, and strength.
“TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic share with Garmin the same passion for supporting athletes and coaches worldwide, through world-class training tools, performance metrics, and concrete insights. The entry of these already well-established platforms into the Garmin ecosystem will expand access to more authentic coaching experiences, connecting athletes with professional coaches who can guide, motivate, and inspire them to achieve their goals”, stated Brad Trenkle, co-chief operating officer of Garmin.
“We are excited to join forces with Garmin to further our common mission: to provide athletes and coaches with tools for science-based training. For over a decade, we have worked together to democratize coaching and performance analysis, helping millions of athletes reach their full potential through structured, data-driven training”, concluded Andy Stephens, CEO of Peaksware Holdings, the parent company of TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic.
Based in Louisville, Colorado, TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic will see all of their 120 employees join Garmin’s global team.
